The Volunteer Patrol Unit is ready to roll. You can help to make it a success...

The group of VPU volunteers (Volunteer Patrol Unit) headed by MC Mak and supported by Councillor Rajiv, met up with Tuan Loi, Chief Inspector at the USJ8 Police Station. The informal meeting held last night at the USJ 8 Police Station was meant to update Tuan Loi on the development of this VPU group and also to explore ways and means to make it more cohesive and effective. Tuan Loi, as always, promised his whole hearted support and also threw in some measure of advice and tips to get the job done.

The Police would also consider the possibility of providing a Police personnel to ride along with the VPU Patrol to make it even more effective. It was a very fruitful meeting and members came away more confident and reassured of the success of this project.

Mr Mak announced at the meeting that Councillor Rajiv would be sponsoring a vest to members for group identification.

The success of this project to help curb crime in the neighbourhood will depend entirely on volunteers. Whilst the group of volunteers have increased, many more are still needed. And the more volunteers there are, the greater the area the group can patrol and for over a longer period. So if you can find the time (just 2 hours lah!!), and the will to contribute towards community effort, this is a noble one that you should and could consider. Besides, you would be able to make more friends from the group of volunteers and also get to know the police personnel better. If you are game, Mr Mak will be very glad to hear from you.
